Artist Statement

Human experiences and interactions confound me. I find myself pondering how humans are physically and mentally capable of inflicting pain on one individual while being charitable toward another.  I am frustrated with humanity and my inability to encapsulate it wholly. Personal experiences allow me to develop ideas with significance; fortunately the works are open to interpretation. My sculpture is narrative; I utilize the human figure because deciphering human form is innate, each body movement has understandable implication.  We understand down cast eyes or furrowed brows, body language speaks volumes. I hope viewers can find significance in a piece and create their own story.  It is difficult to capture an entire story in a moment. Instead of dictating the story I assimilate items that can be interpreted.  Meaning will be left to the viewer allowing for inclusion of personal narrative.
